The 2025 Festival will take place the weekend of October 17-19, 2025 in downtown Brattleboro, featuring over 40 award-winning and emerging writers, all free and open to the public.

Headquarters
Festival headquarters this year will be located in the Brooks House Lobby at 132 Main Street, Corner of Main Street and High Street —you can enter from Main Street or from the Harmony Parking lot. Inside you will find the Festival’s pop-up bookstore, hosted by Wild Book Company in Newfane, VT. which will stock all festival titles for the weekend plus other fun things and will be open from 9-4 each day, Coffee, refreshments and information about the festival will also be available in the lobby from Write Action, Brattleboro’s local writer support organization. The lobby also has seating, restrooms and an ATM machine.
Ticketing
All festival events are FREE and open to the public. There are no tickets and seating is on a first come basis.
Location
All events take place in downtown Brattleboro. Refer to map and directions for venue locations.
Parking
There are parking lots throughout downtown. The lot located on High Street and the garage on Flat street allow all day parking.
• Kiosks: Use the kiosks throughout town to pay with coins or credit card. No smartphone required.
• App: Use the Park Smarter app, which is available on mobile devices from the Google Play Store for Android or Apple Store for iOS. The app is especially helpful for those who regularly park downtown.
• Text: Text “Pay” to 77447. The new Pay by Text option is a faster alternative for visitors who would like to park quickly, without needing to download the app.
• Accessible Parking: Those with a disabled parking placard or a disability license plate may park in any LEGAL parking space without paying. The space can be designated as a handicap-accessible parking space or any other LEGAL parking space.

Author selection
Potential participating authors of literary fiction, literary non-fiction (primarily biographies, memoirs and history) and poetry are selected by committee. Authors should have published a significant book recently….no self-published books will be considered. The author nomination process for each year is from January 1-May 1. You may submit nominations for the festival via e-mail to vtbookfest@gmail.com.
Book Sales
Books will be sold by Toadstool Books in Peterborough and Keene, NH, following each event. Get your book signed—inscribed books make the perfect holiday gift! All titles will also be available at the pop-up bookstore hosted by Wild Book Company at the Festival Headquarters in the Brooks House
